Why Ferrum Phos and Kali Mur?

Each 6X tablet contains equal amounts of Ferrum Phos (iron phosphate) and Kali Mur (potassium chloride). In Dr Schuessler's system, Ferrum Phos is known as the first aid salt and has long been associated with the first stage of inflammation, while Kali Mur is traditionally linked with the second stage and with the glands.

Practitioners have paired these two salts for generations, and Combination T simply brings them together in one convenient tablet. It's a natural partner to Combination J and Combination Q, which share some of the same salts, during the colder months.

A Little Tissue Salt History

Dr Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler (1821-1898) was a German physician based in Oldenburg who became fascinated by the mineral content of the human body. After studying the ash left behind from human tissue, he identified twelve inorganic salts he believed were vital to healthy cells, and in 1873 he published his findings. He called his approach biochemic, and he prepared each salt in a tiny, finely triturated form so it could be taken comfortably by people of every age. His twelve salts have travelled the world ever since, and they remain a familiar part of natural health routines today.

The Schuessler range is made by Martin & Pleasance, an Australian natural health company with roots in the nineteenth century and one of the best known tissue salt specialists in the world. Each salt is prepared at a 6X potency, meaning it has been diluted one part in ten, six times over, and the tablets are small enough to chew quickly or crush into a little water. The twelve single salts are numbered alphabetically from No 1 Calc Fluor to No 12 Silica, which is worth noting, as some other brands use a different numbering order.

Building Your Routine

The traditional approach is little and often. Many people take Combination T four times a day as a maintenance routine, ideally half an hour before meals with the last dose at bedtime, and increase the frequency for short periods when they feel they need it. Keeping your doses away from strong mint, coffee and food is thought to help, and consistency over several weeks tends to matter more than any single dose.
