When we decided to create a naturally tinted lip balm, we quickly learned that many brands use Cochineal — a red pigment made by boiling beetles. Yep… boiled beetles. It often appears on labels as Carmine, Natural Colours or Natural Red No. 4. While it’s technically safe, the idea of insect extract on our lips definitely wasn’t appealing.

So we went looking for a kinder alternative and found one we love: Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Root Extract. This natural pigment gives our Strawberry Tinted Lip Balm its soft reddish tint, without insects or synthetic dyes. It’s also rich in antioxidants and has gentle astringent properties, helping keep lips healthy, moisturised and naturally vibrant.
